Telehealth in Urology & Andrology – The Future of Men's Health Care

Telehealth can help with selected follow-ups, report reviews and early triage. It does not replace physical examination, imaging or procedures when those are required.

Where telehealth may help

• Reviewing imaging or lab reports already completed
• Discussing medication tolerance after an in-person start
• Andrology or prostate symptom triage to decide urgency
• Post-procedure check-ins when your clinician agrees remote review is suitable

Where in-person care remains essential

Examination, catheter care, stone procedures, prostate surgery, endoscopic stricture treatment and most new complex presentations need face-to-face assessment. Telehealth may start the conversation but does not automatically clear a patient for theatre.

Symptoms that should not wait for a remote reply

• Acute urinary retention
• Severe stone pain with fever
• Heavy bleeding
• Sudden scrotal pain
• Chest pain or other medical emergencies during sexual activity

Preparing for a remote consult

Have reports ready, note your medicines and list questions. Good lighting and a quiet space help. Be clear about symptom onset, prior procedures (RIRS, ESWL, TURP, VIU and others) and what has already been tried.

Privacy and follow-up

Use secure channels recommended by the clinic. After telehealth, you may still be asked to attend Apollo Jubilee Hills or Samanwi Clinics for examination, ultrasound or procedural planning when needed.

Balanced use of digital care

Telehealth works best as part of a continuum — triage and follow-up supporting, not replacing, hands-on urology and andrology care. Discuss with your clinician whether your concern is suitable for remote review.
